So, my Firemouth Cichlids spawned and it seems they ALL made it and are quite the large pile of wigglers. It's been 2 days since they hatched. I'm seeing that a lot of people lose their fry when transplanting into another tank. I've taken steps such as putting nylons over the ends of my filters and raised them to the top 2" of the tank (55 gallon with HOB Filter and Canister Filter).

They are the only Cichlids in the 55 besides 2 Clown Loaches, 2 Chinese Algae eaters and 3 Rhinoceros algae eaters. Do I really need to separate them? I do have 2 other established tanks a 20 and a 10 gallon. But one has a Jewel Cichlid and the other has a Bullhead (long story). Any information is greatly appreciated!

Let em grow a little more I would think of moving them till at least two weeks old. It's also good if you give them their own tank. Fry are very sensitive to water changes and water quality so if they don't get eaten that would likely be the killer.

But is it completely necessary? I really don't have anywhere to put the other fish in those tanks.

I've been doing weekly water changes about 40-50%. And I'm due for one today but I'm told to hold off, how long should I wait? My Ammonia levels are always to the lowest levels and same with the Nitrates and Nitrites. I have normally high pH levels. Would switching out a couple gallons every couple of days be okay?

Also can I still use Flourish for my plants?

I do 5 gallon water changes every 3 days. I don't think the flourish would kill the fry

I move fry to new tanks as soon as they go free-swimming and start doing 50% water changes as soon as they eat brine for the first time, usually on their second day free-swimming. As long as there is no wild pH or temperature swing between the new water and the tank water, water changes will not hurt them.

In fact, if you have hundreds of fry in the tank with their parents, you're going to have to step up water changes anyway if you want the fry to develop properly and grow. Clean water and frequent feedings are the best way to get uniform, healthy fry.

How long till they do this? They are just in a pile right now wiggling.
