Need advice ASAP about new silver

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would say no, until they are closer in size. Just my opinion, it could very well work but I wouldn't risk it.

Awesome tank though, I like the dimensions you chose. Great job, looks real good.

thanks everybody on the nice comments about the tank, ive only been keeping fish since christmas, and that tank was my first attempt at anything DIY with fish.

ok what about if i moved the fronts silvers and oscar to other tanks, put the 26"silver in the tank and put my 20"gator gar and 15" clown knife ion with him, what do you guys think about that combo?

i just really want to pick up the silver, free is a great price haha

First thing to consider is what will you do if the 3 arowana don't get along, do you have other tanks to properly house the arowana? Also your tank is of nice dimension but still not big enough for the 3 arowana. If you have plans for an up grade it will be needed much sooner. Realize in a year you'll have 24"+ silvers swimming in that tank.

I would say resist the temptation and just stick with what you have, especially if it is working.

Agree

I know its tempting to just get bigger fish or more.. but you really have to start thinking about if they will get along.. and fish dont know that you want them to get along.... they will fight if they see other fish get in their way...

BUT, ur ideal of moving the 24" with a 20" gator gar, might work.. but in reality.. a 180 gallon might work out.. 24" x 3 = 72" so he can swim up to 3 times his length and back.. but.. i dunno.. if my arowana got that big.. i might just throw him in a 8ft tank... or find one..

You def should consider how they will get along.. PS.. do u have another tank for your oscar, and the two 11" arowana?

i dont think these people read any of your posts to be honest. but hey you cant beat a free arow. i'd do it. add him and make your own assumption. if anything you will have to rehome it.

if they are 125-150 gallon it should be good.. Just remember.. in another yr or so.. if u want to put them all together.. u're looking at a big upgrade on tank...

200 range gallon... 240 probably..

well i figure ill by the end of summer, id like to build another tank, probably in the 8"long 4"wide 3" tall range because i really want a motoro, so it would only have to be until then that this all worked out.

but i do see one problem with all of this, how would i move this fish i do have a large rubbermaid to transport it but how do i get it out of its current tank and in to my tank?

do what they do in sea world... they get a huge retangular tank or to transport..

I actually transport my new 11" arowana in a 10 gallon bucket, took 1hr to get home, but i made it!

but 26" id say get a SUV and put this big guy in a 60 gallon tank and fill it with water to transport home.. make sure u put saran wrap on the tank!!!

it SHOULD work.. lol :ROFL::nilly:
