55 gallon tank 1 convict 1 firemouth 3 pictus cats any other cichlids that would mix well with these fish

you can do much better than a convict and a firemouth. but if thats what you decide to got with, you should start with just those two for now and work your way up

What else would go with them though that would get along well and what could be better as you said

Nothing wrong with black convicts honestly, they can fight, but firemouths are ok.I have a firemouth and I may end up getting rid of it,due to the growth rate is very slow and my texas cichlid outgrew both those fishes and I have had my texas for less than 3 months.

But could any other cichlid go with this mix of fish and it would be good idea to get a firemouth a little bit bigger than convict

There's many things that you can house in a 55 gal. A pair of Jack Dempsey would be much more attractive for a 55 gal display tank. Big, beautiful, hardy and fun to watch.

Well the options you can go with is a jack dempsey, green terror, severum, black convict, firemouth, texas. Is this going to be a temporary set up tank and upgrading down the road?If you plan to upgrade in the near future in say a year or so.You could go with a midas, flowerhorn, jaguar,or oscar.

What are you looking for in your 55g? It seems your question means you want a variety of fish that all get along. Convicts are great fish but not always the most easy going. They can be downright mean. You might try a cutteri or sajica as a replacement.

I was thinking about adding a jack to this mix would that be okay in the 55

also this will be upgraded in probably about 2 -3 years so not for quite a while
