Need advice Getting ready to order a 10'x4'x3-4' Tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Tenecor then.. I have always liked them. Only thing is I am not 100% sure on the 1/2" acrylic but I am pretty sure it will bow slightly when filled. To avoid this on my 300 gallon Tenecor I had them use 3/4" acrylic. Which eliminated all worries, but was also 1.5x the cost.

He said the 10x4x30'' was 3/4" acrylic. And the 10x4x3 was 1'' acrylic.

Did you check out aquatic technology? They are near cleveland, columbia station actually. I know that they have 720 gallon tanks 3ft wide not big enough?, might be able to get in what your looking for, worth the call. They have some pretty rare fish, only saltwater though..well actually one fresh.. bumblebee grouper. He may even be able to order a tank for ya and price matches I believe.

sorry, i am jumping in on this convo way late ...

if you haven't yet, i would talk to kevin ... i know he had some issues dealing with the first company he tried, and then he bought one from the 2nd company... but i dont know who either company was ...

also, i'm sure you've talked to AA, but they have a tank similar to that size. so i'm sure for a 200% mark up they could get you one ;)
and also, the guys out at new albany reef farms have one that size. he told me they paid about 10k for it... so if that was tank only, i think thats way too high. maybe contact them, he is pretty good to talk to

Aaah, the joys of a new toy purchase...

Thank' guy's, I'm 99% Sure i'm going with Tenecor.... The deal he offered me was just insane. I'll be ordering early next with any luck. But i will check these places you've put to my my attn.

Justin, I will need all the HELP i can get.. It will pay well, But will be HARD work.. The 10'x4'x30'' is 710 pound's dry. From Tenecor..

10 by 4 by 30 are the exact dimensions of my Tenecor.

Anything taller than 30 is a PITA to clean/maintain. Even 36 is considerably tougher to work with then 30. I'm 6'2 and even 30 can be a pain at times (have to remember the 4 foot deep reach)

I'd use DIY filtration all the way..... But then again I don't have near the funds most people with tanks these size have.

IF it was me ordering one new I'd want at least (2) 3 inch drains. My tank now has 2 1.5s. WHO the hell would order such a tank with drains adequate for a 150 gallon I have no idea, but now I have to go in and enlarge the holes so I can run at least a bare minimum 5K GPH. IF new, I'd want a tank capable of flowing 12K GPH. Pumps seem to just start loosing efficiency once you pass a Dart, anything past a hammerhead (without spending stupid money) seems to get almost wastefull.

I'd run 2 hammerheads.

I'd have the overflow set up similar to the $1K 500 gallon for sale right now in Northern Wisconsin. Overflow on one end, returns on the other. My Tenecor 300 has trapezoidal overflows in the back walls... I hate it. Returns along the back wall. The friggin poo just rolls over and over and never seems to get into the overflows.

Plus a tank configured this way would be ideal for monster Characins as they seem to come from quick moving waters.
