Need advice on a filter!

I've looked at the aquatop but I feel like a 9 watt uv on a 500 gph filter is way too low to be effective.

See I thought the same thing but it actually helps a lot. I use it after water changes and it clears the tank up so nice and fast.

Vortex diatom filter. Great for polishing water. Filters to 1 micron. Filter out parasites such as ich.

I change 50% every 3rd day. I don't use polishing pads anymore in my canisters so I've been wanting a 3rd filter just for mech filtration.

Sponge filter on the intake is about as cheap as it gets.
I didn't see what canisters you are using but how about one more filled with just mechanical and polishing pads?

My 9w UV is rated for a 1000g pond at 600gph. I run 300gph throughit for my 210g and the results are awesome.

AC110 works beautifully with double pads, but also a UV sterilizer is the ideal way to go, since it also can eliminate small parasites such as ich.

ac 110 with double sponge ,is probably your best bet.
