by useing watter thats in a filled tub. You will
1 have to worry bout soap residue.
2 clorine residue
3 just nasty residue. Wich all may or may not harm your fish. Somthing to think about.
You can buy a adapter that lets you screw a garden hose to your sink faucet. and use it for filling the tank.

Hello; I would have the same concerns about using water from a bathtub.

oh yeah, thats an interesting factor about soap and that... i never thought about it. BUT. ive been doing it that way for a while now, and ill keep doing it. but next time ill make sure to give it all a quick rinse to try and minimise these factors:) Plus, how can i fill the tank with a hose on my tap because then how do i dechlorinate the water? & i said before my water has no pressure so it wont go to my tank because my water system is pretty old.. I'm SUCH A NEWBIE :'(

^^ just add declorinator to the tank where it mixes with the incoming water. Set the temp close( I do mine by hand) and fill. Add declorinator based on tank volume not volume of water changed

I fill my tank then add the chemicals after it is filled, iv never had any problems with doing it that way. As for the pump idea, i just bought a 5.5 utility pump from my local hardware store to pump water to my tanks upstairs. I engineered a fitting that connects my sink faucet to my pump. Turn the faucet on, let it run a couple seconds and then turn the pump on. I also put a sprayer on the end of my hose so that i could control the water upstairs without having to run up and down my stairs.

so i would have to add enough dechlorinator for 180 gallons? if thats right jeez, that stuff isnt cheap!

i add to the volume of water that i changed. There is no need to add enough for the entire tank because the rest of the water should have already been dechlorinated.

Hello ; I have a water pump that chucks into an electric drill and you can attach a couple of standard garden hoses to. It was cheap and likely will not last for long term use, but such a pump may move your water on occasion. Might consider using a cordless drill to avoid the chance of a shock hazard.
