roflmao, wow oh wow. This thread is funny. First, can't say i blame fat dude or any dude for staring at you.

Second, it's funny that anyone can be offended that someone doesn't feel comfortable at a gym. You're a guy, we're just wired differently. You should know better to even try to put yourself in her shoes.

Three, my contribution to this convo.....since the OP seems....determined not to gain any muscles, it sounds like she just needs somethin for cardio. Any work with weight wouldn't do any good since she wants to stay soft and curvey. The medicine ball and small weight sound like a good idea. If you can walk in heels, i'm sure you can handle exercising on a ball. Any basic work out video would also probably help you accomplish your goal. It just seems a bench is meant for way more then you want to use them for.

i disagree completely, your not goin to lose your softness, the human body will not change that dramaticly that fast.

you will not bulk up if you dont want to, by the look of your pics (i was looking but im not fat so dont worry) you will lose a lot more weight before you see any toneing.

i would suggest getting a trainner who will train you at home and not posting on mfk for workout advice unless you want to grow scales and a nice set of pectoral fins and maybe lift and tighten your dorsal.

bodybuilding.com has a good thread/blogging section.

its not just for body building its for fat loss too

bodybuilding.com is for sure the best site. but i do agree that a home gym setup is a little much for not wanting to gain muscle. as a mixed martial artist the only time i hit the bench is when im trying to gain a little muscle mass. when im cutting im doing cardio. a bench isnt needed for cardio. im not an expert by any stretch but it doesnt sound like a home gym is the right peice of equipment for you.

sweet i love mma, but the work out does not matter when it come to building mass of loosing weight, that depends on the FITT principle (Frequency, Intensity, Time, and Type)

and what is building mass for a male will be different then for a female

i think if she keeps the right amount of sets and reps and the right kind of training a home gym would be perfect for her(but they are expensive haha)

were do you train? i used to fight outta this private gym in santa cruz CA for mma, and i did 4 years of tae kwon doe before that.
then i got into more weight lifting rather then endurance training so i went to school to be a personal trainer and thats what i do now, im actualy sitting behind the desk at my gym right now haha

You can get the sit up pull up bar you hang in a door way but u hang upside down....

yes but i think theres better options than a home gym for what she wants. i think its hard for most people to keep interest in a home gym type setup really and so workouts tend to kinda fall off. but not everyone is like that. obviously everyones body is different. idk hahha

and i dont train at any real mma gyms. since there are none near me. ive got my own ghetto mma gym at home. lol. i havent been in the sport long at all proly a year and a half. ive had only 2 real fights (both wins by the way hahah) i try to keep it as just a hobby but its to addicting.

What exactly do you disagree with? Most people would agree that a weight bench is to build muscle mass, not cardio to shape up. There's sooooooo many options i can think of without wasting dough on any type of home gym equipment to get the type of results she's looking for.

I agree that this may not be the ideal place to ask for health/fitness advice but the vast amount of people here from all different walks of life makes this site great for advice on practically anything. Of course it's up to you to follow up on the advice and make sure it's sound before you follow it.

This thread is kinda old so i'm just curious about what she's gone with or if she's still pondering it.

bench is not just for mass, there are 4 diff energy systems the body has to work with, cardio uses the oxidative enery system, you can all resistance train in the oxidative state. so you can wieght lift and get better but very very similar results to cardio, kind of the same consept at the difference between aerobic and anerobic training. although cardio would be a good choice for a begginer who is trying to lose weight and not tone.

plus if the person does not use the home gym its the person fault not the equiptments
