lol, I have 5 s.w. and didn't even know that there were fish in f.w. until this year. Ewurm get your self a large plastic trash can, a power head and a heater and you'll be good to go.

Are SW fish so shameful they have to be kept in a trash can?

That's a good idea! Think they would notice? I have to do this to prove to my self that I can keep anything alive in water. My Chinchilla is so pissed about living in a 10 gal planted. LOL

Guard at gate "excuse me...Are you happy to see me ...OR is that a Shark in your pants?!  (may have to change name to NOwurm)
.

NO...NO...NO... You can't keep a Chin in anything smaller than a 75g :D

(my daughter tok my Chins back about 4 months ago, after having them for 6+ yrs)

My water is hard, 120 ppm gH. I am using RO, in containers of 7 gal, which don't allow for mixing. My room temp is 70, which is what my RO water is at. I thought the salt wouldn't dissolve well at that temp. If you think it's ok, I will mix in a bucket. If you think it's too cold, I will get a heater, then mix in the bucket.

Also, what temp do you keep your tank at? And what specific gravity?

Your salt will disolve perfectly fine at 70 degrees. I mix my salt with water rght from the tap and I don't even turn the hot on. i just use the cold side. It changes my water a whole "1 degree". My heater from the tank then kicks in and changes it back.

I keep my tanks around 79 degrees and my specific gravity at 1.025.

Is your water as hard as mine? What about alkalinity? I am worried my water from the tap is not adequate. Also, does hard water affect the specific gravity reading?
