it'd also make it a lot easier and less messy to drain the tank as low as possible.
i agree

Drain the tank down to about 6 inches (into whatever holding containers you're going to use), remove the other inhabitants, then as was stated above take an old COTTON (remember that says COTTON not polyester) Pillowcase lay it down in one end of the tank propped open with something like popsickle sticks and gently coax him to swim in. With everything that going on most likely it would appreciate a dark hideaway. Then pick up the case and set it into your transport container.

With regards to the use of a towel, I believe it would remove alot of the fishes slime.

Alternatively, you could use a trout net. Put it down into the tank and then, again, gently coax the fish into it.

But you really should drain the tank or you may find yourself picking that Aro up off the floor :WHOA:.

the reason for the wet cotton towel in this case is the fish needs to be lifted up thru the braces and will need protection if he doesnt like it.

Drain the tank and do what John said, or use a large garbage bag and make it swim in...an aro is flexible..you should have no problem getting it through those braces. GL!

Be very careful if you are going to drain the tank as stated above and still have gravel in the tank. I was helping a friend move his big clown knife (with a pillow case) and right as we were lifting him he jumped out and landed in the gravel he got scraped up pretty badly :( he did fully heal though.

Use a wet pillow case and then put him in a fish bag?? Are you taking him and keeping him or are you putting him down??

This is very similar to my situation, only mine is x2. I'll be watching , please post on what you do. You may find some other helpful ideas here in the following thread.

Is this how you move your aro:ROFL:I think having experience would be best if giving advise on this procedure.
