Need advice on moving a huge silver

Thanks for all your advice. I went round to look at the fish and setup yesterday to get an idea of how big it was etc. What I found was a huge arow with a bashed up face, mangled barbels, gill curl on one side. They guy then told me that it only feeds on live mice and goldfish. I had planned to put it in my pond but i've got smaller but not small fish in there and I didn;t want to risk them getting eating by that beast and I will never ever feed anything live mice, that's just too barbaric for me. Weighing up the hassle of moving it and then having to go through the trials of getting it to eat prawns I decided not to do it. So I turned it down.
The pillow case idea seems like a good one, I'd have used that. The towel might be ok but I don;t see how you could catch it in a towel without it going mental before you got a hold of it?

you would lay the towel on the bottom and shape it like a L then gently coax the fish over to it and pick it up like a sling, wrap it and flip it over, gently lift it out and youre done. too bad you didnt go through with it, would have been interesting to see how it turned out. nice info about being upside down john, this may come in handy in the future.

I'd say get a 60gallon tank and transport it inside a Truck or SUV and just drive it home.. easier than using a trash bag or bucket...

Just put swarnwrap on top of the tank and ur set....

I considered doing something similar last time i moved a large silver. But getting the fish out of the tank, and into the car would be tough. And then you have to take it out of the tank again when you get home. The beauty of the trash bin and bag is that you can empty it into the pond or tank without stressing the fish, he just swims out. ;)
