Need Advice on pond construction for Silver Arowana

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have a JD in my cichlid tank but I don't want it to bully my aro so I won't move it plus it's really old and I'm afraid it may die in the process it's like 8 years oldi might get a gar or clown knife buy do they work with aro mine is kinda timid also I'm definetly getting pleco.do u know anything that control mosquito like any fish eat the larvae I know koi and mosquito fish do
If the pond Water is always moving the mosquitos aren't a problem. I think there's some trees you can buy and plant near your pond to keep mosquitos away. I keep my 16 inch clown knife with my 5 arowanas and no body messes with them

So do u think a flow knife would work? I'd have to research also what pleco do u recommend the common black one or one of the smaller kinds. Also any other tank mates? Do u think my 5 Angels would work they vary from one at 2 inches to 4 inches and they've been with the arowana for about 7 months now

Idk what a flow knife is. Since you live in Florida I would get some fancy plecos. Common get to big then start making a lot more mess. I would put the larger angels in there and leave the small ones to grow. Idk if you want snails but I dislike snails. A catfish would be nice to have, I have a RTC and plan on getting a TSN. You should get a jardini arowana as well. Do you plan on leaving all the fish in there for the rest of there life? If so I would make it big as possible and take time to make it perfect. Send me pics of how and where you're going to make it.

Sorry I meant clown knife. Probably gonna get a few bristle nose or something like that and I'll put the 2 largest Angels said. I probably won't plan too much fish since idk how muc LxW I have or how deep I can dig. Also I probably won't have a RTC I had one before long time ago and I don't think I want another and it's tougher finding a jardini in Florida where I'm at.

Ok so this is area I'm building one it's a good amount of space I'm gonna clear all the plants but the money tree and maybe some of the bamboo. I can probably dig up to 2 feet, 3 if I'm lucky and it's LxW is a bit irregular since there's some curves also I might have to build around the money tree

You measure out the all the space you can get and Mark it with spray paint. I would keep some of the big plants and let them hang over the pond. And predator fish you get should be babies grown in the tank with other fish so they are not aggresive when they are older. But the spot looks great. Show me progress when you start please.

Ok I will and I'm keeping the bamboo plants and money tree only the banana tree has to go it's too big and takes up all the space and my arowana grew with other fish so I'll definetly make any other editions grow with other fish. Thanks

Won't bamboo roots puncture liners?
It isn't true bamboo I believe it's called lucky bamboo their roots aren't as tough or strong they are the ones sometimes sold curled into shapes or in aquariums occasionally

Oh. I was thinking that it was the bigger one that you had.

I'm also in the process of building a pond so the advice here is helping me.
