Need Amazonian stock suggestions

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Flag tails are notoriously not ray safe I would remove it or at the very least keep a very close eye on it.

As for stock suggestions a tigrinus would work great and maybe some large geos

Also we need pictures :)
Thats strange i thought flagtails were okay with rays. I am desperately trying to track down some flagtails to go with the rays i am getting. I have seen lots of pics of ray owners with flagtails in their tanks, is this not such a good isea then?

I am working on building an amazon native collection of fish to go along with my pair of retics. I will also be purchasing a pair of Motoros as a Christmas present to myself! I currently have a flag tail, six pbass, a ripsaw catfish, a Lima shovel nose, and four red hooks. It is very important to me that whatever fish are recommended are ray safe! I obviously have a plan for large tanks, and ponds considering everything I currently have so size isn't too overly important. I eventually plan on putting everything together into one large tank as an amazon community! I hope I get lots of good recommendations and input! Thanks everyone!

I will remove him and put him into another tank then. What about oscars? I just don't want to get anything that will be aggressive towards my rays.

Just removed the flagtail.

Any cichlid is going to be a gamble even p-bass can sometimes be a problem.

Given an oscars personality appetite and over all messyness I wouldn't try it but I am sure people have had it work before

Alright I am just trying to get a good diversity if amazon fish of different colors and shapes so any good recommendations will be taken seriously and will probably end up in my tanks. Just remember with whatever you recommend ray safety is the most important thing! Keep the recommendations coming please!

Any fish you add should be longer then the rays disk is wide... from experiance.. my female retic actively hunts other fish... she has been fine however with my spiney eels. She eats 3"+ goldfish when I feed the gar, actively hunting and pouncing on them. My tanks pretty bio-diverse.
