We've been talking to breeders and getting pictures of the rays they have for sale. I tell them that Ashley would like marble motoros, and the pictures do not match the rays she wants! So, I had her look through google images for the types of patterns she would like to see eventually on her rays. What she does not know is that I will be getting them sooner than she thinks as a surprise! So, here are the pictures of what she likes. What do I ask for when talking to a vendor?

Thanks,
Matt

That first one is Michael H´s "sunray".

Who knows what it is. ;)

Abortedsoul, with marbles you have to give them time to "color up" I can tell you right now that the first one pictured on Aquascape IS going to be a nice ray, you really cant beat it for the price!

IF you have a nice marble from day one more than likely they will be nice marbles down the road. If you have a knockout at 5 inches I'm guessing it's only going to get better. But I think a majority of the time people buy Marbles that have very little marbling and expect them to transform into the marbles that were first posted. And most (not all) cases this isn't the way it goes.

Bottom line look at the parents.

And if these are your first experience in rays I would NOT buy skinny wild caughts. I'de WAIT till you find some nice captive breds. It's NO fun watching WC rays starve cause they are unhealthy when you get them. If you're going to do it they MUST be qt'd.

If you truley want something that looks like the pics posted you're not going to get it by just running out, buying, and crossing your fingers and praying it turns out gorgeous. Research bloodlines and look at the parents. Once you find parents that you like then get one of thier pups. I would definetly take your time and KNOW rather than gambling...... What happens when you gamble and end up with a nice looking Motoro? You're still going to be searching for a nice Marble, and you'll either have to sell or take care of the ray that didn't turn out like you liked....... Save the headache. Do it right the first time.

I am telling you... the marble/mantilla hybrids for $225 are a great price.. Captive bred, eating massivore.. Just have to give them a few weeks of TLC and isolation. They might be a lil stressed over at h2o because of all the tankmates.

Check out mine, had them almost a month now.. snapped these pix just for you. They are only going to get better!!!

PS. (I requested the ugly runts with blemishes... how do they look?)

I think if they grow up like this.. then they are just as nice if not nicer than a marbled ray, especially for the pricetag. They will only change and develop as they get older!

Only 1 pair left!!!

I really appreciate the pictures you took, Miles. You are always very helpful, and I appreciate it.

Do the hybrids grow up to look like the picture you posted?

I think it all boils down to what YOU/your girl wants.

Keep in mind a ray is a HUGE purchase as you will have it for a very long time. Long story short..... Decide what you want and obtain what you want. Don't settle. The price of food, housing, and just flat out keeping is expensive....... If you want nice Marbles then hold out..... it's just like love man..... You'll know it when the right one comes along. If the hybrids do that for you then get them before they are gone.

Really dig the pic of the big one there Miles...... Was that Mike's? AKA the father?

I also have a similar type, Mantilla in adult size, she have gave birth to 3 little baby, 2 of them look exatly like the mother. another one look a bit like the father.
