I started off with one main big clump about 1 foot tall and now I have three from that one which I replanted

Second of all, I need a way to incorporate the PVC pipes into the scene so they aren't just THERE. This is probably going to be the future home of another oscar, so preferably pitbull proof ideas lol.

I'll post up all of the progress made here for anyone who might want to follow the project. And I'll try to sketch out what I plan on doing with what I currently have and post it below. ?
If you want to disguise the PVC pipes, you can use Polygem.

Jrt has done some fantastic stuff with Polygem. PVC pipes were used as the skeleton for a lot of his work.

Here is a gallery from the Polygem website:

I managed to get a picture of sprinkles!!!
It's not great, he's super shy, but I wanted to share.
This guy was only about an inch and half long when I got him. I'd like to say he's maybe 3 to 4 inches now.
I love this gorgeous little fish ❤

pacu mom pacu mom what exactly did you use to color the pvc and i looked up the polygem product line there is too many products to figure out what was for what. Yours awesome!

I’m in the situation where I want to get bigger PVCs but blend them into the tank and make it more natural looking for my bigger plecos/loaches. I’m at the 4’’ connector PVC and pipe stage.

Built up my PVC pipes with Pond Foam before using the Polygem. (no two pipes the same)

I used wire fencing around the PVC so the Pond Foam would stick. It probably was not needed, as I see that in Jrt's builds they just slapped the Polygem directly on the PVC.

Actually, I liked the look of the sanded Polygem. If they had not been painted with acrylic paint, they would not have needed to be sealed with the clear epoxy.

Made my backgrounds using Pond Foam on foam boards, covered with Polygem 307Lite, then painted and then sealed with Polygem 1618 clear epoxy.

Thank you so much for the info. So much appreciated. This is giving me some courage to try the customization route.

Hey Scrappy71113 Scrappy71113 ,
I saw a Youtube video where this guy took PVC pieces and used a Dremel tool to make hollow logs. He took the Dremel and used a small grinding attachment to make uneven lines on the PVC to make it look like bark. He also ground down the straight/flat edges on the ends. He then sanded the PVC with sand paper so the paint would adhere better. He then painted the PVC "logs" with a brown acrylic color and then used different acrylic colors to give it some depth and contrast. The finished product looked very much like a real log, very natural looking. He did not seal the acrylic painted PVC with anything. I guess adding epoxy would be up to you. HTH

It's been a while since my last update.
I finally bought the canvas for the back of my tank.
My java moss has absolutely taken over.
I have decided to attach some hornwort to the PVC pipes to hide them.
Sprinkles the catfish is doing just fine.
I'll post some updated pictures as soon as I get everything done.
In the meantime, here's some pictures of my gorgeous Sprinkles at what I'm assuming is his full grown size for everyone to enjoy ?

I finished the painting for the background.
I just need to figure out how I'm going to mount it to the back of the tank.
Any ideas?
