Need help all the discus are going south!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
sounds like there is some progress... Keep up on the heat and salt treatment with a minumun of a 70% water changes daily if you can for a few more days. You want to keep the water as clean as possible.

Melafix and Primafix are what I use when receiving new shipments to prevent bacterial or fungal infections. They are not effective when there is already a problem, you'll need to find kanamycin/kanaplex if salt treatment does not clear up the slime coat problem.

Wow still not better. Darn.

I've used both pima and mela fix and worked great after about 3 treatments, just do exactly what it says on the bottle and if its not to late your discus should recover just dont expect immediate results after one dosage.

Ouch... Yea not looking too good. They are stressing bad. Bacterial and slime coat issue for sure!
If it was me I would qt them in a smaller bare bottom tank by themselves and do heat, salt and a kanaplex treatment with a 80% water change daily with a full tank wipe down each time. Also, add additional air stones as well as oxygen may be depleted with treatment. If you can't get you hands on kanamycin try mardel maracyn or tetracycline which is available at you local petsmart and petcos
What are the water parameters?
Also, The sand may be harboring a bunch of nasties as well.

Temp is still at 86 I haven't jacked it up any. Im still not sure if its bacterial. Ill get another pic in a few hours and see what you guys think

Bacterial infections I treat at 75 degrees and I also like kanamycin for an antibiotic. 86 is just a crazy temperature for treating bacterial infections. I'd drop it as low as the discus can tolerate temporarily.
