Need help ASAP

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You should be fine. Just get the test kit's and keep an eye on the water prams. If they spike do 30-40% water changes every day or two.. You should be straight! I dont think you have another choice? Good luck with you fish!!

lots of water changes. from what i learened piranhas are pretty hearty. and ill let you know now.. thats to many fish for that size of a tank.

campphliophus gave you the best idea, go see if you can get some media from a fish store asap!

Well I just tested the water and everything looks good but I know the water can't be cycled already. I added some Stability to it and I am going to test it tomorrow. Unfortunately it doesn't look like my fish will be here until the 5th which kind of scares me.

I missed the part where you said the species & how many. I hope they're tiny & you're planning on a large upgrade.

Toss um in you will be fine .. If your P's die its cause of temp shock or "well water" . Use a water conditioner and some fresh water tank salt you will be just fine . No cycle is required for Piranha , Do lots of water change first two week ,
like once every other day 1/3%. Get some Pic's of the new shoal I want to see .

your tank is probably testing fine because you just put water in the tank and there is nothing to foul it up. adding stability to your tank won't do anything unless there is an ammonia source, so if the tank doesn't have any fish yet, you are wasting it. if you have a couple days, what i would do is go to the lfs and grab a bunch of cheap fish, ask the guys who work there if they have some established gravel or bio media that you could get from them, if they give you some, put it in your filters when you get home, and drop the fish in the tank.

after the fish are in, you can follow the instructions on the bottle of stablity for a new tank and start from day one. i wouldn't perform any water changes on the tank while it's getting cycled unless your tests say that you need to. when your natts arrive, there should be a good amount of bacteria already built up and you shouldn't have too many problems.

i wouldn't just dump the fish in when they arrive without doing something to help speed up the cycle, piranhas may be tough fish, but i have talked to many people in just the last few months who have had their piranas die because they put them into a tank that wasn't properly cycled or they did something to create a mini-cycle.

His fish are coming in tomorrow. What's 1 day of fish in there going to do & do you really think the shop will take them back after they've been in his tank for a day just to cycle?
