Well, my oldest female of 6 started laying her eggs the other day. The preoblem is, she layed 3 eggs and then stopped, then layed 2 more within 3 more hours. Now she has completely stopped laying. It's been over a day since she's layed her last egg. I know for a fact that she still has more in her. I have her in her lay box with tons of vermaculite and everything. She just won't finish laying. Normally they're suppose to lay all the eggs within a few hour period. What the hell is going on??

wish i could help. bump for u .

First of you SHOULDNT be breding a female that age. If she produced the eggs without your intervention then its ok, it can happen. But now what matters is her life, get her to a vet IMEDIATLY, she is IN MORTAL DANGER! The vet has to take x-rays of her, do blood work on her and to see what aproach to take. THERE IS NOTHING AT HOME YOU CAN DO. DONT LOSE TIME; HOURS COUNT! Treatment can go from a stimulant hormone injection to surgery. GO NOW.

No ****! ??

It was an accident. I know your not suppose to breed over 5 years but my male, which loves to breed with her by the way, got a hold of her when I had them out of the cage. So your saying she's got egg binding?

YES and she can die in a matter of hours if dont do anything, go to a exotic vet NOW

You know what though? The 6 eggs that did come out of her are in good shape. Wouldn't they be dead or in very bad shape if she held on to them too long?

The shape or format of the eggs layed before, doesant have anything to do with egg binding, a female iguana I had layed 6 perfectly good and fertile eggs before herself sucumbing to egg laying probs (unfornatly I didnt had the knowlege at the time to incubate the eggs:(). Also many things can happen besides egg biding, that is just one of the possible probs, the oviduct doesant have strength to expel the eggs, there was a lack of calcium so there is no muscle power to expell them, the female has surpassed the time in wich is is behaviorably receptive to laying, the oviduct and ovarys are to old or to young and so lack the ability to produce normal eggs or to expell them, etc, it doesant matter it isnt fixable at home and you are losing time, vet now.

I took her to the vet. Spent $80 just find out that she did not have egg binding or anything that was life threating. She was however in the early stages of holding on to her eggs too long. But the vet said she was just spooked for some reason and was not laying like she's suppose to. Vet said keep an eye on her and that she thinks my beardie will be fine though.

that good to hear that theres nothing wrong with her. hope she has the lays her last egg
GOOD LUCK!
