Need help! Brown algae

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Could it be that my cleaner crew is too small? I know when I left I had like 10 hermits and 10 snails. But that was in April so some have prob died. Do you think just getting 10 more snails would fix it? Here is pics:

your phosphate's must be real high and those area's must get a lot of detritus and leftover food to get that build up add some flow in the area get a clean up crew and test phosphates till there at 0 and your problem should be gone for good.

So all I need to do to get rid of this is to adjust my power heads in a different direction? How would you recommend them to face? I have 2 with one on each side.

How do I get my phosphates down? I have had my tank for like a year now and never had this problem before.

I don't know. I am in Iraq. I just recently found out my tank was like this from my wife.

first I want to wish you safe passage in Iraq I would maybe get a new powerhead for that area maybe something not with a real strong flow but moderate. Phosphate's can be from different thing's feeding, water used to make new saltwater. I would check with your wife on how she is feeding and with what frozen, flake, pellet, freeze dried, etc... then go step by step to identify the phosphate issue and eliminate it.
