FOWLR w/ fake corals

you can keep keep nice reef safe fish, but don't have to worry about several hundred dollars of coral getting munched on

some fake corals look pretty good too

Alright a reef tank is only a good idea if you have time and money. Quite a bit of money to do a 150 gallon. A good number for reefs would be 40$ per gallon... your looking at roughly 4,500 dollars to get away with your tank. The tank in the picture is worth more than 10,000 dollars. I think that people get the idea that they can do a reef and afford it. When they should really look at the figures first. The time , extra chemicals , added cost for a bigger skimmer. You need so much to make a great reef. I just hope you know what your doing if you decide to make this a reef.

i had a 3,000 dollar reef tank ... it was 55 gallon das. It grew old after a while and i lost interest. I'll always be a predator person, reef keeping is to tedious and i dont get the same tingly feeling when feeding. Thats why these fish tanks as pictured below are so amazing , because no one has the time or money which makes these rare sights so beautiful.

So if you want a reef id do a 50 gallon or smaller ... unless your a high roller and have loads of cash and time.... or just alot of cash and pay somone to take care of your reef

Here is the catch, I'm a vender so I can get some pretty good prices on coral.

Ah, a vendor. Vendors dont always get the best prices , but i will say youll save some money. Id say take a good 20% of the cost , thats still a lot of money. Vendor prices have lost their greatness , i know people who get better deals off craigslist.... All im saying man is 150 gallon reef tank is something spectacluar. And money is only the first problem.

i was just tossing some thoughts out there for ya.

i just see a lot of people waking up one day saying i am going to make a reef tank , and fail miserably wasting tons of cash and time.

I agree with craigslist. I've seen some coral going for as little as a $1-$5

But if your a headstrong person and think you can really make it work i dont see a problem. Just make sure the research is done , and you can handle it. Care , time , money, and interest all need to be up to par for this.

I liked the bamboo Shark idea :) and theres tons of fish that could go with the bamboo ( PLUS! an excuse to get a bigger tank for the living room, with an adult shark swimming back and forth one day.)
