Need Help! Mom is going to end fish hobby!

Im 15 and thats me in the picture. Ive tried so many times to took at peoples test they already took and i still fail! I have no idea why!! And if i try to study, I still fail!

Yeh, I already told mom that Just because you end fish hobby doesnt mean I will stop...

But then again, If i get a 95 on report card i get a 125 gallon tank every time i get a 95 on report card. my moms pretty strange - can be really nice and be really mean. Shes tried everything...

Mom's Words: "Richard, if you get a 95 on your report card, ill buy you.....
These was what they were for the past 5 years. ( New Computer, 100 dollars, fish tank, paintball gun, you name it.) I just have problems getting focused and passing tests. I do homework, pay attention in class, then when test comes I Flunk.

Lol Jonie... I think my mom would think I got drunk if I told her that

Mb_barton... I dont think that will solve anything.. I dont want to be a rebel like those kids who go to school for nothing. I want to have a life :)

I know I can do it, its just hard to try....

Tell your mom its not like your on drugs....Your only addicted to fish. Let her realize it could be much worse, then do as they said above < ask for an extension and pull your grades up. No excuses....you look like a smart kid.

Why does your mom complain about the 10 gallon a week WC? the water bill? or are you making a mess when you do it?
 
Ok bud I've had to deal with this before (only 17y/o), there's 3 solutions,
1. Cheat, I use an ipod in my chemisry quizzes, you can put notes on the extras part. Or you can use a calculator and slide the back off and hide a cheat sheet. Or you can make a nerdy girl think you like her and play with her for a awhile and use her for answers, homework etc.
2. Actually study, maybe downsize a tank and try to do good in school until the end of the year comes which isn't that long.
3. Tell your parents that there's worse things to spend your money on such as drugs, maybe take it to the next step and "accidently" get caught with something, like cigarettes and when your mom finds them be like well I can't get fish stuff so I got smokes. try to teach your mom that fish aren't bad and that whole jazz and tell her who is boss etc. Hope this helps...

PLease help me!! I want to keep my dempsey and my 2 datnoids. dempsey is 3 inches and 2 datnoids are a bit over 1 inch

I would rather keep all of them but my first fish, my dempsey and the 2 datnoids are what I really really want to keep.

Sorry to hear this. As a father multiple times I know where your mother is coming from. Multiple failures get you grounded around here. And that is from the computer,phone, friends, iPod, video games ect... Has only happened once.

Tell her how much you are learning about chemistry, biology ect.. and keeping your fish is showing you are reliable and responsible. Ask for an extention based on performance from here on. AND BUCKLE DOWN!!

Good luck... and know your parents are doing what they think is best because above all they love you.
 
During football season i came very cose to failing chemistry. coach saw my grades and started making me go to tutorials. i still got a 72 in that class.

then football season ended and my grades increased significantly (straight As) and they continued to get better after the season ended. then i started track and my grades began to drop again. so i dropped track and my grades got better.

this may not be what you want to hear but maybe you should put fishkeeping on a hiatus and maybe your grades will improve.
 
The guy's failing and there are more posts enabling continued poor performance behaviors than posts telling this kid that completing homework and paying attention in class are only part of what's necessary to succeed in class. I haven't seen word one about study habits. How much time is spent actually studying versus time playing on the computer, game consoles, etc? If enough time is spent studying then there's a problem in the methods of study and he needs to get guidance/training in productive study techniques.
 
to me_wee_todded: I am in the marching/concert band and on the tennis team: My mom wants me to be in the band but she thinks tennis isnt really worth it.

to racialfish: I am the worst cheater alive. I simply am. I have a friend and she makes the most best cheats ever. and sticks it between her legs when she sits. In chemistry, I write down the answers in the reference table which is a booklet with all the facts that you MUST use to take every test.

Other people, they put cheats on the inside part of a water bottle but there is that risk of teachers wanting EVERYTHING off the table including the bottle.

to aquanaut: I have never been grounded. Never. My mother is an immigrant and she isnt really "GO TO YOUR ROOM" type. She just likes to yell. Not curse, just yell.

Next year I have to take 3 AP classes ( college courses ) and I got to do better.

Does anyone have tips on taking tests? I have that problem of knowing everything and then BLANKING OUT ON THE TEST!

But then again im lazy too because I try to study the night before but end up sleeping... :nilly:

To Oddball: I never watch t.v. except in the morning to watch weather so that i know if i have tennis practice or not.

Also, the only time i go onto computer is after school, to check out mfk, chat with aquaria members, and maybe play some games but for only an hour. I dont spend all day playing games.
 
i really doubt a 55 gal keeps you so busy that you are failing classes. i would have to guess that there are video games involved and obviously the computer. you just need to focus more on school.
