Need help on cycling

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would not clean the filter or do any waste vacumming unitl the tank has fully cycled. It would be very beneficial to you to find a new home for your fish for a few weeks and do a fishless cycle. Search the web for more info on it. After all living with ammonia in there water the fishes life is going to be shortened considerably. And all it takes is one ammonia spike to kill them completly. And if you are only 2 weeks into a cycle with no substarte for bacteria to growth then I would say that a deadly ammonia spike is in your future. I would guess it will happen around the first 2 weeks after you see some nitrite. Good luck

you guys keep saying that but then how come i have my fishes in this uncycled tank for 5-6 months now and they are doing fine.

Well I'm done wasting time with you...you have to figure out what you have...a 2 week newly set up 55
or
an established 5-6 month old tank...

well the thing was its the same tank that i had from 5-6 months ago, but recently i understood i was doing something wrong cause everyone kept telling me about cycling the tank, so i drained out all the water and bought a new filter, so it was like a new tank cycle.

where does the BB colonize? On the biomax?
oh and when i change the foam in 2 weeks, should i pour out all the water+waste in the filter? or it has BB in it?

Bacteria will colonize the biomax, and it will also colonize the foam too. For normal tank conditions you would need to clean(not change) the foam. Since you are trying to cycle your tank it would be best to just rinse your foam in a bucket of TANK water, this will perserve any bacteria growing on it.

Keep up with water changes and remove any uneaten foods. By doing this there is no chance of having an ammonia spike. Also DO NOT add anymore fish to that tank.

ugh, its a 55g, way too small for even one aro, let alone 2. usually aro's dont do well together in pairs, especially such a small tank. your gonna need a bigger tank whithin 6 months max for what you have now. considering its taken you 6 months to understand that you dont understand how to cycle a tank or properly house fish, i would be best to either sell your fish, cycle your tank properly, and then buy fish that could stay in a 55g, or start saving now for proper accomodations.

really i cant add anymore? Not even one? i mean i scored a deal on this black aro coming next monday :D

You've got to be kidding me:irked:

Are you stupid? Seriously? I'm sorry but myself and others have spent countless posts trying to help you get your tank cycled and now you pull this crap:screwy: There a 50% chance those aro are gonna do nothing but fight.

Remember you've already killed one black aro. Get off your butt and do some serious research my friend, I'm done with ya :thumbsdow
