yeah i have zero experience with cons. I know people community them with some bad ass cichlids though, so I can imagine they would be aggressive.

OP would it kill you to upgrade to a 55 gallon?

Yea they can be pretty nasty IME and take on a fish 3x their size. It depends on the fish as everyone says, but mine have all been pretty aggro

I cant afford a 55 now... Im 14. Maybe ill get one for birthday or xmas tho.
Anyways, im not too keen on the sev. Last one i had almost killed some gouramis i had at the time.
Also, as i said, the angel will be removed if needed and the swordtail will be gone soon as well.
Does that make it mre likely that ill be able to get the firemouth and convict?

14? Very nice, I have a son who is 10.
:D

If I had to chose between a fm and con in that tank, I would go single fm. Maybe a female. 2 cichlids in that tank with it's current stock might be trouble. But you can try it most definitely. All fish are different. You never know what your gonna get, it's part of the hobby - making it fun.
:D

I would think you would be ok if you get one or two but remove the angel, swordtails, and tetras, IME I dont think a con or fm will tolerate this smaller weaker species. Even if the tetras are quick they are not gona last in that size tank when the cons and fms get about 3 to 4 inches.

Ok the tetras and angel and sword can go then. Lol.
Its kinda funny, the tetras are already chased by the ruby shark since they have all red fins lol.
So, i will get a con and fm. No gt. I suppose that later on if it ends up being just the con and fm for some reason, would i be e
able to get the fm a mate?

You should be ok with a FM and a Con and if your lucky you might even get some cross breeding.
Convicts are cool fish as long as they don't breed in a comunity tank coz then all hell wil brake out and not even a big JAG will be safe :-)

a salvini may work but the tetras i think could be in danger with any cichlid. the angelfish could get picked on as well.
