You should be ok with a FM and a Con and if your lucky you might even get some cross breeding.
Convicts are cool fish as long as they don't breed in a comunity tank coz then all hell wil brake out and not even a big JAG will be safe

get a dwarf green pike cichlid (compressicas) or how ever its spelt sorry not to good with scientific names
