I dont care what the nitrate reading is.....atm it doesnt matter as much as the fact he is stating his ammonia is at 1 which is toxic way more toxic then any amount of nitrate, which would be off the charts probably if he had adequate filtration. As others have said tank is to small and filtration is in all actuality pathetic for the current stock. Will the added canister filter help? Better then nothing but no in reality it's not that big of a bump up. You need a tank twice that size and use that tank as your sump fill it full of biomedia and do weekly religious waterchanges of 50-80% and then see where you are at. Currently you are just torturing those animals. Sorry to be blunt but its truth.
