im new but i have had to dealwith ich with sensitive fish like you have before. the medicine Melefix can work wonders it fights and kills the ich and relaxes the fish so they dont stress i have ich in one tank right now and my pacu seems to be the only one who has it after one day his spots are starting to vanish; will have to try salt and heat method.

Im also a fan of primafix and melafix, but they dont treat for parasites, they mainly remove fungi and repair fins, scales etc. Im using the salt and heat method now seems to be working well, then i'll probably dose with primafix and melafix after, to help with the recovery.

ok so into day 2 now of 0.3% salt at 86F. going ok...most of the ich seems to have cleared up, leaving just a few spots here and there. However i read a post about how some1 killed all their clown loaches using salt, heat and an ich-med. Im treatin my loaches with salt and heat was wondering if this is safe? should i stop the treatment or carry on untill it has completely gone? really dont wana lose them had them for 2 years now

I use 1 rounded heaping tablespoon for each 5 gallons of water and I bump the temp from 78-80 up to 88. The combo of heat and salt kills Ich every single time, and I have done this a bunch of times on tanks across America. When you do a water change estimate how much water you have taken out and put the proper level of salt back in. You need the heat and salt levels at these levels for nothing shorter than 14 days. Do it and kiss the Ich good bye.....

Just for the record CrazyCichlids is 110% right. This is how I've treated it time and again. Yea, it probably will wilt your plants but it'll save your fish. And for the record it takes just about a full week for the spot to disappear. Because they have to grow to full size on the fish 1st. Then they fall off and hatch within 24 hrs and it's the salt that kills the little "baby ichs" who are swimming around looking for a fish to latch onto.

Salt and heat is the best choice if the fish's health is the priority. Melafix, pimafix, won't work at all on ich.

I use Nox-Ich in my tank when salt and heat dont do the trick and it works amazingly ive never lost a fish from ich when i use it.

stay away from jungle products they are garbage ive never used anything made by jungle that actually works.

I have read that heat alone can kill it. Anyone ever try this? keeping your tank at 86-90F with extra water movment for O2 can cure ich unless it is a very strong rare strain then 92F will kill it.

I'm thinking of trying heat alone anyone try this?

I've read also that heat alone can kill it although I've always been too afraid to try it without salt and heat both. If I had plants I might think differently. I've never hears of anyone using it and it working but that doesn't mean much either. Try it and we'll see once and for all.

On top of heat ,salt and increased aeration i also add a full dose of stress coat . It helps to replenish the electrolytes in the fishes slime coat and increases the speed of recovery .

Im having the same problem with my tank right now. going to try out the salt and heat method. never good when somethin contagious going around a community tank. good luck with keep us updated on how your fishes are doing
