I think until you can get a much bigger tank for the black Crappie, you should put him in the outdoor pond. The Crappie need at least a 120 G. when full grown and in a 60g with a Bass and a Redbreast will definitely get him beat up.
My bass is In a pond by himself. He is too aggressive for pond mates. He killed a 6 pound koi when he was only about a pound and a half. He is a good 3 or 4 pounds now.

regardless if you have 3 fx5's or a topfin 20 on it, 3 15'' fish cant fit in even a 48'' tank

Are his fish 15", or would they be in the immediate future? Unlikely.

Saying he cant have three crappie in a sixty because they have the potential to reach 15 is like saying I cant put my gatf in the 510 gallon, eight foor tank because the fish can get six feet long. Both myself and the OP have a very long time before the fish would need a bigger home. By the time his baby crappie are big enough to need moved, he'll be old enough to get a summer job and buy a 125 off of craigslist. By the time theyre 15" (if they even do, just be ause some do doesnt mean every one will) he'll be out of high school and probably living on his own.

OP, buy two more crappie and a good filter and go enjoy your fish. Your tank will be fine with three crappie, a sunnie and a pikerel for a long time.

Rob, Redbreast and Bass can be rather aggressive, where Crappie are less aggressive and usually need more cover and swimming room than other Centrarchids for their size....and your right it takes several years for a Crappie to get slab sized, but they can get well over 15 inches and when they do they need more room than sunfish, even the bigger ones like bluegill and Redear sunnies.

Oh I know. I'm just basing off my experience in the past with my natives tank. I had a LMB, SMB, three crappies, a rock bass, a green sunny and a school of longears and some catfish living in a 55 with no aggression issues. The key for me was heavy decor with heavy filtration. I actually had more aggression issues when I moved everyone over to the 150 for some odd reason.
