I have seen several times what people are telling you to do.

How about testing your water ??????????????????????

Cant tell you how many times I read that. So I think you should do it. I agree with one post. If you have time to go online and post, and go drag racing then test your darn water, and post the results. Nobody can help you if you do not listen to their guidance.

hes eating pellets now and i just did a water change and siphoned the gravel, but i was wondering what sort of catfish could i put in his tank to eat the leftover food off the bottom of the tank?

if there's left over food you're probably feeding him too much.

sorry, i meant a catfish to eat the algea on the gravel but sometimes when hes eating he chews one and spits it out.
aswell as have it for a tankmate so hes not by himself. so what catfish can i put in with him?

I agree that you need to buy test kits. Also, you should clean your tank better. It's never a good idea to buy a fish to fix a problem. All you'd be doing is adding bioload in order to compensate for uneaten food, which means over-feeding and under-cleaning. In addition, please read here to learn about a salt mix which will keep your pH and KH elevated and steady (7.2, 4): http://www.wetwebmedia.com/FWsubwebindex/fwh2oquality.htm. This mix is easy to use and measure, and literally saved my fishkeeping life: I treat about sixteen hundred gallons of freshwater with this mix, and keep steady pH of 7.2 and KH of 4 in all of my tanks and my pond. It's really great.
