I know you guys probably won't be able to help me much because I don't have a lot of information or pics, but my aro is in serious trouble. The last couple of days I noticed it wasn't so ecstatic about eating the freeze-dried krill as usual, but otherwise, seemed fine. Today, I noticed it was kinda hiding out by the filter and wouldnt come out unless I turned the lights off, but it still isnt moving around like usual. Someone is picking on it, but IDK who. His pec fins are starting to tear a little and its losing scales. I didnt notice anything at all till a few days ago. About 5 days ago, I put the red oscar and 4-lined pim back in the tank (were being treated for ich), but I never noticed anything when they were in there before. The only other fish that hasnt been in there w/ the aro for a while is the lima shovlenose. I never notice any aggression towards the aro or any other fish by anyone, so it has to be happening when nobody's watching and the lights are off. Who do you think is the culprit? I can't see it being either of the catfish (esp. the pim), but I guess it's possible. I'm going to put the oscar in the 20 for right now and I put a bunch of NovAqua in the water. I don't think it would pick on the aro, but it's the most logical option. What else should I do? If the 20g didnt have such small cichlids, I would throw them in the 125 and put the aro alone in the 20. I don't really have any room to set up the 55 right now, either.

I'm thinking I may need to get rid of the aro until I have a 10x4x3 tank established and get a larger aro, maybe even a jar that will hold its own.

Apparently, it's the 4-lined pim thats picking on the aro! My brother in law said he was him messing w/ the aro and he was been messing w/ the lima the whole time i've been cleaning the tank. Hopefully, taking out the oscar and pim will allow the aro to recover. I thought those fish were peaceful, but apparently they all aren't.

Thanks for all the help in this time of urgency, lol. Anyway, keeps looking worse and worse. I'm afraid (and almost positive) it won't make it through the night. I did almost a 50% water change and added some salt. Looks like I'll be aro-less again :(

Hey.. Sorry didn't notice thread earlier.. LEAVE THE lights on for a couple weeks.. If the damage is happening in the dark.. I had this issue with my Silver and My black... And the attacks were when the lights were off.. So I naturally Left the lights on:)

See if it works for you :)

i seen your threads and you said you needed help because you couldn't get a filter and then you said you got a filter and now your saying you can give free aros are you sure all of this is true or not?

sorry for derail have you added some melafix? and some salt and try to get a hospital tank for your silver and add melafix and some salt hope your aro pulls through
no worries. i added some melafix, pimafix, salt and novaqua (dechlor and slime coat builder). the aro started pretty much doing headstands and swimming funny, but is still alive this morning...somehow, but it's still swimming the same way.

i found out it was the 4-Lined Pimodelus. IDK what I'm going to do with him (besides put him in the cichlid tank which I already did). I have half a mind to flush the little bastard. It was looking so good, too. There goes my scavenger.

thanks, Justin and Bala Sharkies
