NEED HELP!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I see Felixxx's point with the old water. But I would use it. It is only half tank of the 180.

and the daily water changes will sort that out.

Ok just checked my test kits. The only number I could find on it were a lot no. the number was 86a 0404 would that be use by date? If it is that is very bad. I just bought the kit 2 weeks ago from the pet store!

i would probably get them in the 180 and then do a 100% water change when the stand comes. as i said before the extra water will dilute the ammonia better than the 90. Keep up the good work.

if you bought it and it was sealed then its probably good. Do you have an lfs you can take it to for a second test?

yes. Don't give up. You are getting a crash course on problem solving. Even if this time things don't work ( I believe that you will manage ), next time you'll be a seasoned problem solver.

i got very lucky when i started fishkeeping. the tank i was given was allready cycled so i have never (knowingly!) cycled a tank,

there wasnt really anything that was "sealed" persay. I dont have any stores for about 2 1/2-3 hrs away. But Im willing to drive to one if it solves my problem. Im going to get my tap water tested on monday by the town and see what the levels are from the tap for my own knowledge.

it wont solve anything per se but might give you a second reading. although if your tap tests 0 and your tank tests 2 then the test is almost certainly functioning. as miguel says if you can keep up with 50% daily you should be able to deal with most fishkeeping problems

I did not say to do 50% water changes, sorry. I suggest 20 or 25% daily.

Tomorrow, upon tank change, it will equal to a 50% water change ( with the old and the new water ).

Afterwards smaller, 20 to 25% changes.
