Need info on Blue Acara

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Theres a Jewel Cichlid, and a BGK. The BGK is the biggest at around 7 inches. Yeah the more and more I looked at it I thought it was a GT. I kinda didnt like the selection I got. The guy picked one that didnt have the darkest bars etc. Some of the others had a blue color to them on their bodies. I'll keep the GT for awhile then get rid of it.

theres no reason the GT cant live in that tank with the current fish as long as its big enough. like i say it should grow up and be fairly peaceful as long as it doesnt get badly bullied by the jewel. but if the jewel left it alone after it was put in then i cant see you having any problems once the GT figures out or is told where it can and cant go in the tank.
good luck with it, they grow into beautiful adults.

Yeah I know, Im a big fan of GTs. Problem is the tank I have set up is only a 55 gal for now. Getting something bigger isnt a problem with money and locating a bigger tank, but rather not having space right now for it.

Kinda sucks, I have to settle for smaller fish. I'll keep him a little while and then give him to someone. Yeah I noticed the Jewel has been charging the GT sometimes and tried to nip him a few times too. I think its just a little display of dominance. The GT is fine, he still swims around but tries to keep a little distance away from the Jewel. The jewel does hang around the GT and doesnt bother him all the time. But GT is way smaller than the Jewel.

the GT should be fine for at least a year i would say in the 55 with the 2 housemates. they hit about 6" and start growing slow after that. perhaps your circumstances may have changed by then. i think your right about the jewel.
but of course its your tank and hope it all goes well.
