yeah but it would then just be a line bred trimac not a FH

Is anybody really sure what the first FH consisted of?

I agree. Honestly I can't understand why some would go into the Hybrid section and post negative things. If you don't like them don't buy them. Its really pretty simple. I actually love the look of some of the new Hybrids coming out. One that comes to mind are the Thia-silk. I wonder if that has V. Breidohri crossed with something else? Enough of that though. We should all just get along.

some people call cichlid crosses flowerhorns no matter what cichlids are crossed but i always believed that a trimac had to be part of the cross to be a flowerhorn other then that they are just hrybrids. i see to much of red devils and say something else like a jaguar fish being called a flowerhorn. i do not believe that to be true. that is just a hybrid. trimac cross with any other cichlid is flowerhorn. thats how i see it. but no way in hell does pure trimac x pure trimac = anything other then another trimac. there is alot of bogus info out there but from what ive gathered over the years what i said is what most flowerhorn keepers think as well. i did not look over that entire site but from that thread you posted makes me think they are going to keep believing what they believe no matter how much you try to tell them. good luck.

yeah +1 thats what i always thought was that to be considered FH they had to have trimac at least somehwere in the mix, but arent the rose queens or whatever they are called like midas or red devils mixed with something? and arent they considered FH? i dunno its all so confusing thats why i stay with the fish created by good ol mother nature

Only the breeders truly know what their own strains of F/H consist of but my understanding of F/Hs is that they are line bred hybrids consisting of different genera.
trimac x trimac = trimac whether it be 1st generation or 4 generations of selective breeding.

Let them keep breeding Trimacs. In a few years instade of going to the store and finding low grad FH being sold as Trimacs we'll find Trimacs being sold as FH! Win Win......

This may not be as funny as it is sad, many and I mean many people hasn't seen a pure Trimac so in their minds/eyes that maybe a trimac for them. That is why we as so called purist must be more active in the hobby to show what true forms of cichlids looks like. In many of the lfs they have hybids labeled the wrong thing another reason that when either unplanned breedings take place or the basement scienctist pulls a wacky contraption out of his hat they should be culled or kept in the place they were conceived. We hear it all the time "what would a rtm crossed with a dovii look like". Indeed hybrid trimacs are easier to come by then real trimacs lol that's why all of us so called purist should have a pair of them around in the next 5 yrs or so their may not be any around but you might find a blue dragon around you know what I mean, just my two cent (fire away)
