In that big of a tank I would think you could have plenty of space to hide  If this isn't working, you'll either have to get other aggressors or put him in another tank.

AK, dont you have a spare 125 or something laying around with all the tanks you have? I know people aren't fond of dividers, and neither am I, but maybe divide one of your larger tanks you have already?

Yes it has about 75 3 inch red bellie babies in it right now-----They are waiting for a guy to get together enough money to buy the whole lot of them...Then I will have my other 125 gal back...

I'm adding more decor to it....It was lacking that in a big way at first...But it's starting to come around-----

I had a similar problem when i introduced a Chrenicichla Johanna to my tank. he and the Bullseye Cats i had would fight ALL the time, and it got fairly nasty. what you need to do is create levels in your tank. there should be at least three levels, each of which are differntly sized, for different fish. rocks work great for the smaller, then use DENSE plants for the medium sized guys, then driftwood(hollow logs) for the larger, and finally at the top, open water for Mr. Agressive. Sight is the main factor in all of this. The bored cichlid has nothing to do, so he's being aggressive - this is what happens with most large Oscars, without stimulus they become jerks. if he cant see the smaller fish, he wont be inclined to lash out.

I guess I will have to find a happy medium then...

My pacu isn't the largest around-But certainly is one of the nicest around-He wont stand for too much in the way of decor-But I am trying-Plus If the decor nics him or scrapes him then it's out the tank in a hurry--I wont risk the condition of my pacu---

I certainly appreciate the feedback and will take everything you said into consideration-I will try best with what my pacu will stand for though

Good luck with the decor. Hope it works.

Although you may have 500 gallons of water, your fish can only ever be 6ft away from eachother at any given time. This is your problem right here. If for example, your tank was 500 gallons but with the dimensions 12ft long, 3ft deep and 2 ft high, I dont think you'd have this kind of problem. I know there is nothing you can do with your tanks at the moment but have you thought about dividing the tank? If you put a divider in so there is a 5ft and a 1ft section, the midas could easily live in the 1ft section.

What is your water temp.I don't really now what your other fish need to be at,but you can try to bump the temp down a few degrees.

I would like serious answers please-He's my pet-No way in hell would I eat him..

The "eating him" part was a joke, but I was being serious when i quoted the other guy about getting rid of him to a local store or someone else with a big tank who can take care of him. Hopefully the decorations will do the trick for you but you might have to end up getting rid of him if that doesnt work. Good luck!
