Need more advice please everyone

I have a RD/Midas (from petsmart) in my 300gal, 8x2x2.5H, and he killed my FH that was about 2-3 inches smaller than him about 9-12 months ago. The RD/Midas was around 12inches at the time. There are also good size SDs, Large Blk Aro, pike, sevs, etc. For a while he was picking on all the fish, but worried about my Blk Aro because he is very docile. I think because of the cooler weather and my tank not getting as warm he has calmed down, I also put my 7-8 FH back in the tank as he was terrorizing P-bass and a Jardini Aro in another tank.

I would suggest:

Lowering the temp of the tank to 78 if you haven't done so already.
Getting some target fish, good size SDs or large Giant Danios to take some of the beating as well as distract the RD/Midas, possible 5-6 of either one.

Although you may have 500 gallons of water, your fish can only ever be 6ft away from eachother at any given time. This is your problem right here. If for example, your tank was 500 gallons but with the dimensions 12ft long, 3ft deep and 2 ft high, I dont think you'd have this kind of problem. I know there is nothing you can do with your tanks at the moment but have you thought about dividing the tank? If you put a divider in so there is a 5ft and a 1ft section, the midas could easily live in the 1ft section.

I believe my pacu would not stand for a divider in the tank-

How do you stop something as big as my pacu-He swims with some serious force.....A true Beast

You need something fast. Silver dollars work, just not as cheap as giant danios, might want to get 4 or 5 at least 2-3 inches in diameter. Tin foil barbs work also (again just not as cheap as giant danios), just need to get them at a good size, maybe 3-4 inches, at least 3 of them. If Australian Rainbow fish are cheap and available get those as long as they are ones that get to at least 4-6 inches, might want to get 4-5 of them. Others can chime in on some other target fish that are fast and you could use.

LOL-
Problem solved....

I found out my Midas/RD is in a breeding stage right now....Makes sense too....
Glad to hear you figured it out!

Ya gonna find her a bf so they can breed? That might make things even more interesting in your tank.

not bad at all... if you have to move her to a smaller tank ... even to house her in a 55 for a while would be good especially is she is bullying a whole lot
