Need Opinion! $25 for a 1 inch Mbu puffer.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Realistically if you want a big interesting puffer, a fahaka would probably be a better choice for your 50/300 gal IMHO.

The price of the fish is pretty much irrelevant and the least of all your costs. So if you are really that short of funds for whatever reason, then maybe it is time to reconsider your future commitment to your pet and it's life for the next 10 to 15 years ...

Either you are devoted and have been looking and waiting for a Mbu, or it is just a passing thought. Only time and consideration will separate the two.

If you think or plan on making money on the purchase, then realistically you are probably better off getting a paper route or investing your time at McDonalds.

There is never any shortage of advice, but take the time to sit down and work it all out yourself.

Great advice!!!

If you want it, get it. Life is too short to be worried about 10-15 years from now. Immediate future?...Yes. But who knows where you'll be in 10-15 years? Tomorrow is not promised and you definitely have quite a bit of time before you have to worry about 1000 gallons. You also have quite a bit of time before you have to worry about >$100 a month in feeding costs. I have a 12 incher and it doesn't even cost me that much for feeding the mbu per month.

If you decide you don't want to keep it, sell it. I realize others have life-long attachments to their fish. But many of us buy, sell, and trade fish regularly...Hence the hundreds of buy, sell, and trade posts on this forum. It is a part of what defines the hobby...at least for some of us.

Its your decision. I agree it does deserve thoughtful consideration but it is just a fish.

it is a life and does deserve consideration, responsible fish keeping ...

it all dependents upon if you see fish as a commodity, or a life worth consideration.

Kolossus you position is painfully obvious.

Would you say the same thing about a dog? Fish (especially puffers), stress out when cared for incorrectly & especially when moved. M fahaka went on a 3 week food strike, when I upgraded him from a 55 to a 125g tank.

I'm glad my position is obvious...It was not meant to be veiled. By the way, I had some delicious salmon for dinner tonight and figuring out what seasonings to put on it was about all the "consideration" I gave:D.

Interesting. My mbu ate just minutes after I moved him from my tank upstairs, to my tank downstairs. Perhaps you are not as puffer-savvy as you think.;)

It is interesting that you both choose to respond to me regarding my comments when I am not the OP. You offer your advice to her...and I offer mine. She can take it or leave it...But it is up to her. Say what you want to and/or about me. My fish-keeping is my fish-keeping. Just worry about keeping your fish happy, as I will mine.

Its been big fun, but I gotta go feed my fish. Good night.
