well only in the winter theres a bad draft in the garage only the home is very very well insulated
Are you wanting to veiw the tank from the garage? If not you could box it in from out there...with an access door of some kind.

yeah i was thinking that but dont know if i can I will have to ask but that would be good i can insulate the inside walls of it and that would work better for me and the tank not having to go crazy with heat

ya but if he boxes it in hes going to have a problem with the evaporation and water condensing on the poly over insulation

Wait... Is the tank going on the inside of the house, viewable from the garage? Or in the garage, viewable from the house???

If it is going inside the house, viewable from the garage, then I would just seal it with some caulk and be done with it.

If the tank is going in the garage, viewable from inside the house then I would insulate the sides and back. Not to mention bottom and stand. Eventually including extra heaters, depending on your climate. Also, in this case, I would recommend using an acrylic tank as they insulate better against the cold.

outside in the garage to view in the living room near a nice new fireplace! yes I will put pink insulation foam all around the sides back and bottom. cannot do acrylic yet so must stay with my 240 perfecto glass

Sounds like you know what to do. I would just frame it in and you can also frame the back side of the tank and then put the hard insulation over it. Than just caulk the front behind the frame itself.

Here's a picture of my 55g grow out tank for my africans. Just used a bunch of scrap wood i had laying around. Not to pretty but good enough. :)
