Need puffer experts to help my mbu

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah, some of the replies were rude, but this isn't about him. It's about his fish. I care about fish. It isn't a big deal. I don't have to compromise my integrity just because someone else did. If he wants to be rude, he can be rude. I just choose to be nice.

Not to mention my names Rudy. Lol. Anyway sorry for being a "child" about this but from my experience the alpha members or self proclaimed "experts" ask about water quality in this forum and everyone else says nothing. Even people with a clue as to what is going on can't get past the fact that the experts didn't get the answers to the only question they know. Answer a question with a question and everyone will still think your an expert. Lol here I am being a child again. Thanks to all who answered.

It's really no big deal. I actually know what you mean. I've noticed that a lot of places around the forum. I've actually been around since 2006ish, but under my husbands account. I finally needed one of my own and went for it, forgetting that people would have no idea who I was. I learned the hard way that because I seemed new, I would be treated pretty crappy at first. I just try to be nice and help where I can. I really do love fish. I'm not out to impress anyone or be an expert. I don't even want to save the day. I just want big, happy, healthy fish, and I happen to know a little bit about how to make that happen.

know how you feel.. and rudy i will concur with the IP diagnosis.. and go a step further saying it looks like a prolapsed rectum to boot ( very common w/ IPs). Ide hit the tank hard with prazi pro. ive used it on everything from eels,fahaka,stingrays.... the other possibility with the pics is it could be swim bladder issues as well, suggesting internal infection, which could explain the reoccuring infection. directly injecting shrimp or a earthworm with prazi has worked for others, but i have never personally used this method.

whats its poop look like?

The poop is literally like big green balls. Thanks for the prazipro idea I will do that

Yep, that is exactly what to do. Good luck! I'm glad we could help you sort it out. Now you know it's the IP's. Did you raise the water temp? I am so neurotic about checking temps as a rule, but last week, we had a heater malfunction and destroy our entire grow out tank. There is a thread about it in general. We lost so much. Anyway, the moral of my story is to make sure you're keeping an eye on your thermometer. I keep everyone at around 82f. That should be good for everyone in your tank. High end for your puffer, but to help him bounce back, a little warmer is going to be better.

That's a pretty big tank you have, I had to treat my 360 Gallon for IP's here recently and instead of treating per the directions I just soaked the food in Prazipro. I then raised my temp and added epson salt, worked like a charm. I'm far from an expert but I guy I trust shared that info with me. Good luck man..

+1 about medicating the food is the best idea. Oh and add some liqiud garlic to the food, it will also stimulate her appetite plus garlic is a natural IP repellent...:D

Update on this. A couple weeks and no reoccurring. She seems to be cured! Thanks for the help
