Need Ray ID'S, possible mantilla

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Edit I now know who the op is and he does have this ray. Not being funny but Tain sounds like some far eastern place so when you see a pic of a ray you have seen in a shop in Bucks it looks a bit dodgy lol

Thats first one looks like a Paraguay sp..

The other is just another hybrid.. Mantillas are hybrids too.. So you can call it a mantilla if you want to..
I was about to say the same thing, The first looks very familiar to the pics I seen at the symposium.

Who showed the picture? If it is who I think .......
I sent the picture to the Dutch guys because they were interested in pairing it with their Male fish..
I think that REAL Mantilla is not a hybrid fish personaly
There were to many imported from wild ..POST BAN.
Hybrid fishes are not common in the wild .
It seems every fish that is a hybrid is now called Mantilla :)

Hybrids among stingrays in the wild are common.

And all the "true" mantillas from the wild have been captive breed by crossing diffrent species of rays. There are no true mantillas. they are just hybrids.

Hi Anders. I collected several species of rays from the wild x 6
I havent yet seen a wild hybrid
I am not saying that it is impossible but it is not common.
I dont understand this you wrote?

How can a wild fish be captive bred ?

he means the pattern of wild mantilla has been produced by captive hybrids....

There is also debate that some of the unidentified wild species are natural occuring hybrids like the tiger muskie.
