Need some advice, is this a bad thing? Bubble in seam

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well, I'm going to take everything down this weekend. I found some 1/2" high density foam. So, I'll throw a layer of that on after I go over my stand one more time.

Then with the tank on the ground I'll run a straight edge down the trim and see how bad it is.

Yeah, the trim is out like 1/32-1/16" on the one end.

Fish store isn't too concerned about it and just tells me to shim my tank...

So, I threw the foam under. I'll re level it and then down the road sell the whole thing the first chance I get to upgrade lol

Get my self something of quality.

What is the method of testing for "flatness"?
How do you use a straight edge to measure this?
Are you saying the trim has a curve to it?

Burt :)

I used a 4ft straight edge from work we use for scribing lines in parts before machine work on the part.

So I placed the straight edge up against the trim and measured the gap at the end.

its strange. for the bottom frame (trim) to be curved that much that probably means the bottom glass is curved too. it sits inside the bottom frame.

it would be unusual for them to try and put a flat panel of glass inside a frame that was curved that much. it probably wouldn't go in easily, or at least they should have noticed that when they made the tank. I guess they just pushed it past Quality Control anyway.

typical marineland product.. :(

I'm guessing so... Because the top of the tank is curved as well on that side. If I run a straight edge across the top of the tank, its elevated about the same. I have a banana shaped tank!! lol

Boo...
Lesson learned.
