yup so finalllyyy actually getting my big tank. been a long time comming and alot of disapointments .. this time i have the cash already in hand. the u-haul lined up etc so this sunday .. me and a few people will be going to pick up my new (to me) 220 gallon (although its only a month and a half old in total anyways)

so with no further adieu:

stock list idea (along with the things i need help with)

1x - silver arowana
1x - florida gar
1x - lima shovelnose (maybe or another catfish .. suggestions welcome)
3x - bichirs (want suggestions here, what would handle the rest of my tank well, i was debating 1x sen, 1x del, 1x ornate but this is one thing i need help with).

Last but not least as for more middle tankish type fish ive been thinking 1x or 2x pbass but i know nothing about pbass so i would like help picking out the ones i should look for. i like the look of orino. from what ive seen they look to have the most colorful and distinct green etc but this is the main section im open to ... also open to ideas of what to try instead of pbass if you have an idea.

anyways help me out!!!!

What are the dimensions of your new tank?

might want to research how big silver aro's and lima's get before buying.

A 220 isnt that big... its really a 180gallon but wider... unless its a 8ft tank.. that would be a good size...

A silver arowana.. is good.. but i would go Blk arowana.. some exotic plecos is nice too..

Pbass.. and Gar's for some reason dont mix very well.. Gar's tend to stay below the substrate or above.. as it hovers.. Gar's tend to be aggressive towards any fish hovering in its own area..... So be-careful on the gar fish..

Gar, bichirs, and lima sound good. I think you might find the aro and pbass might end up outgrowing your tank but you ought to be ok for awhile at least with the bass. Not a bass expert by any means but as I recall orinos are on the smaller end along with ocells and monos, as opposed to the bigger tems.

As for alternatives to bass, how about dats? How hard are they to get up there?

72 x 24 x 30 .. unfortunitly its 30" tall .. it wa used as a sallt water tank .. and yes i know the silver will need something wider in a year and a half or two years .. i like blacks more but im already spending pretty much every cent i have on the tank itself .. have to figure out money for the fish after.

as for the lima and silver size comment .. i know their sizes. lima will be fine in the 220 for life .. silver will need a wider tank after.

and the gar comment .. first time ive heard it. interesting .. i wonder if the 30" high will help with this at all..

thanks for the help guys. but if you have a comment about what wont work please try to suggest a replacement etc .. and also help choosing which bichirs and which pbass .. or something to replace pbass.

yah im looking for the smaller pbass along these lines. .. and im not a huge fan of dats for some reason. any more ideas?

oh and on that note i forgot to mention anyone who has a fair bit of knowledge of these fish can you suggest how to add these fish to reduce the odds of losing any fish ... im planning to get all the fish anywhere between 2-5" .. small, so im trying to figure out what order to add these fish in for the most safety. im assuming silver will be last as he grows fast so everything else will have a head start

anyone else? or anyone have an idea about this ^ .. id like to get this figured out asap so i can make my list and bring it to my lfs's and compare prices.

just make sure your bichirs are pretty small too, youd be suprised how small of a bichir can fit a 2-5" fish in its mouth...
