u can have plants as u go along.. its always nice with REAL plants.. as they get older.. u should probably pull out the plants.. it tends to get in the way...

EX: Arowana.. best to have open space, fake plants can get in the way of an arowana when swimming, and no driftwood that are pointy and stick up like jaggy edges... (cases of broken jaws/lips or blind eye from pointy driftwood)

I like ur idea of introducing as the size go along. always best to have comparable tankmates of similar sizes..

If u ever plan to add a pleco... plants is a bad idea.. in stead.. a good clean up crew would be a fei feng.. these guys are good clean up crews..

im not a big pleco fan .. never have been. other then that .. im confused what you said about the plants (other then the aro thing) .. and i understand about the driftwood. guess ill have to sand down the edges a bit on the peices i have now if thatd work?

The thing with the arowana, they are delicate when small. If you've got a spare tank that you can grow it to 10" or so before introducing it to the other fish that might be best. Also the limas are slow growers (not clown loach slow, but slower than gar, aros, bass, and bichirs). Just something to keep in mind. It should be alright though, the ones I see for sale usually have a little size on them anyway.

alright. i dont reallly have another tank for the aro .. i have a 50 gal now but im selling that as i dont have room for both tanks. i have a 10 gallon which i will be using for feeders after i cuddd use it for him till hes like 6" i guesss but i dont even know about that. ... also i wanna know what you guys use to support your tank top to help with arowanas nasty jumping habits? im not even sure what kind of top is on the tank im getting yet

Sorry for the confusion...

Plecos, love anything veggie like.. plants are basically their food if u have it inside... i dont think anyone wants to see plants being eaten when they are so expensive.... unless u have a pond where u can grow them..

U could try to sand down the edges of the driftwood... but for the best result.. stay away from any piece that have any edges.. stick with woods that are long and flat and stay at the bottom.. nothing tall..

anyone else opinions about the fish combo or keeping real plants with them?

Plants is optional in my opinion.. i've seen enough bare-bottom tanks from members.. I've also see some nice planted tanks, but some people use fakes.. and i don't really like fake plants..

Ur stock list should be fine with juvenile and plants.. it'll give them a nice cover since their so small, driftwood would be good for plants.. they anchor themselves onto wood surface..

I think u should try it and see how it turns out.. you never know what works and what doesn't..
