my male texas-cyano was very active, glass banger.i would personally get a pair for the tank.more activity.i like the RTM idea, pair even better,or freddies.get 5 or six juvies.then you can pick the best male for solo,or better yet let them pair.

Not every BeANI GET bloat. In my experience and also seeing others, I've never heard of any Beani from real members with bloat. My 2 juvies I kept for a short time were healthy and strong always..
I only hear of the fear. And they come from ppl who never had them and only read about them..

Get a Beani and make it happen. Dont believe too much in that bloat bs.

As for fear of bloat, 1 fish in 125+g is so far away from that. That's great and perfect for a delicate fish.

I never said in my comment that all beani get bloat, all I said is they tend to be more prone to it. Maybe because of their aggressive nature they are more likely to stress each other out. You have never heard of any members beani getting bloat? I would search the board I am sure you can find a couple. Keeping 2 juvenile fish for "a short time" whatever that means does not constitute to growing a beani from young to adult without experiencing bloat. And I highly doubt the OP would want to see 1 beani in a big 125 by himself until he is bigger most people don't have the patience.

To the OP if you are set on beani than go for it. I would just take some precautions when raising them. As with all fish do your research and make sure you are able to combat any problems that may arise. "The animal guy" has provided a great link to a thread by "RD." that talks all about bloat and it's causes.

i wasnt addressing you nor anyone bro. So I didnt say you said anything wrong :)

animal guy - great links, lots of good info
rr - the main reason for 1 big fish in the 125 is to reduce the bioload. i coud increase filtration and pack the tank, but wouild always be dealing with aggression issues, same for breeding pairs. at some point most will need to be separated and that's too much work for right now.
i had a nice citrinellum for years and he wouldn't share tank space with anybody, including me. i enjoyed the glassbanger attitude. that said, maybe tryng to focus on a single potentially "difficult" beani isn't my best option either.
so many choices. thank you all for the advice.
