Sunny I think you're a genius. I have overlooked the gavel any day I put in the tank with dark gravel stays stable thought it was just ask the other fish the was making them change.

gunna have to second fort wenty on the dithers, only ever saw my silver arowana out till i got a few barbs now my datnoid, bichirs, and everything else are way more active. also sunnysjourney might be onto something as 2 of my tanks have tahitian moon sand, a lot of dark manzanita wood and very nice stable datnoids but the 3rd tank has white sand, is pretty bare and an almost never stable baby datnoid. of course you could always chalk that up to that one still being too young to be completely stable.

Dats are looking good now, Jhawk :) I outta get a darker sub too. Sunny may just be correct that they feel the need to camouflage themselves because of the color of the sub and etc.. so they can protect themselves in the wild, I'd say.. Mine goes completely dark when driftwood is surrounding him to match the color of the driftwood I think.. sometimes I can't even notice the little guy in the tank lol.
