I agree w/ Jed. Driving a manual transmission vehicle will make you a better, more alert driver, IMO. Driving an automatic isn't really driving--it's more like operating a transportation appliance. In the U.S., about 85% of new cars are sold with automatic transmissions. In the rest of the world, it's the opposite with about 85% of new cars having manual transmissions. The result is that the average American driver has no skills. The driving experience has been so trivialized that people feel the need to put on their make-up, talk on their cell phones, and read while they're being shuttled about in their transportation appliances.
And don't even get me started on drifting!![]()
