NEED TO VENT!!! 22" Arowana BASICALLY KILLED!!!

So I recently found a local forum with some LFS and breeders! After finding a new LFS that's about 10-15KM from my house, I met two guys, one the owner, and one that works there! They're all from the same forum! (From here on, no names metioned)

After buying a few stuff and going here and there they told me about this 13-14 yr old kid! He always went with his dad to the LFS and always said he owned over 30 tanks. Wutever, he could be bluffing or not!

But one guy offerred at free Silver Arowana because he wanted to give him to a good home, it wuz 22" if I'm not mistakened. The kid said he'll take it home and his dad will drive him! The guy who owned him had him in a 90 gallon and felt that he shouldn't be having him in there anymore, the kid promised that he'll give him a good home!

So here's the part why i'm so *&##$#^&^&^# mad about this!

The guy hoping to give his baby a good home doesn't turn out like that, when the kid goes home, he immediately dumps the arowana in a 78 gallon tank! and then he puts his post on the forum saying he's hanging vertical and looks like he's got a seizure! After a few post, he says the arowana doesn't look good, but there's another 17" arowana in there that's fine! :eek: WTF? so he says his dad saw it and fishes it out and dumps it in a 5 gallon bucket for a few minutes! :WHOA: and after 10 minutes, he redumps the fish into the tank once more and shocks it agian! So then he dumps another 18" arowana to join the tank :screwy: IS IT ME? OR SHOULD I NOT EVEN BE MAD AT THIS STUFF?
So then this kid post up again in an hour and says that arowana died!

The kid did no researching! The guy who gave him the fish assumed it wuz going in a 180 Gallon!

I know I know... I shouldn't even be this mad, but honestly! That's like murder to me! :WHOA:

All i can say is this kid is a joke and a bluff to me now...! I am completely disgusted!
 
:(RIP:( thats sad and i dont blame you but unfortunately people are going to ruin this thread with posts like you should dump and drown the boy in his tank.... etc... etc....... i have seen it before

bro there are more things in the world to be upset about..Racism, murder, disease, missing children, poverty etc...No need to get so upset bro...I know its wrong but some people take things so much to heart .This stuff happens everyday and will hapen today, tmrw, and the next day..TAKE YOUR FRUSTRATION out BY donating canned goods to the needy or hold a door for the elderly....You seem really young by your thread....Just a life lesson
 
Unfortunately LG fish are often difficult to get rid of. I managed a shop and we would not take many large fish for that reason. The point is people who are offered an opportunity to re-home their fish they take the offer. The hard part is that the person taking the fish usually has no clue what they are doing. Having 30 tanks does not make you an expert. I can remember early in my fish keeping days (20 years ago and I'm 34 now so about same age as the kid) looking at my many tanks and thinking am I really doing a good job at keeping these tanks and their inhabitants or am i just talking a good game. I will admit that I made some changes to my routine. This actually brings up a good point. We can read and research all we want to gain knowledge about what we are doing but unless we put what we learn to practice then it really makes no difference what you know. Step back and look at your set-ups are you taking care of them as you should or as you think? I get exited when I see something that I want but I have learned to always slow down and think what I will do with it, do I have time for it, can I reach it's needs to thrive. Maybe this is of subject but I think the kid means well and the fathers a dope. Do you think you are an expert or are you an expert????
 
I thought you were trying to vent an Arowana! LOL!

As for the story...I would be pretty pissed too. The guy who owned the fish really should have looked into where these people planned on putting it though. I know I don't rehome fish without knowing where they plan on keeping the fish. What happens to it after that is out of my power.
 
Thanks guys! I'm just don't wanna see this kid at all... and when I was selling my stuff online, so happen that this kid emails me and says he's interested and it turns out to be the same guy. I am just frustrated. I am truly in love with arowanas.. just kind of hate it when someone already owns one and plays dumb on keeping the next.

And demjor19 HAHAHAHA! YOU'VE JUST MADE MY DAY!! HAHAHA VENTING ON THE AROWANA!!!

That's what I thought when I read the title! I got a chuckle out of it too.
