  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
hey :)

yes i'm sure it is the real thing because it's from a huge lfs which i know are very reputable!!!

ok so i've had a read about chillers - but i'm not sure which one to get. does anyone know about a reliable brand? im definitely not a salty :D so i have no idea which ones are best. like for my pumps+filtration i'm an eheim girl :D but for chillers i haven't got a clue!

Can`t help you there Neervana, maybe make a post in the setup/filtration sub forums.
Anyways, be sure to post some pics if you get him/her :)

How are the Micro's

Is the LFS Wildwoods.

I have two at the moment, They are my second set of two. They are great looking fish. You have inspired me to grab a couple more and try breeding them. I have a spare 4'.

They are a Stewarti Var. There are two although I think they look identical. Channa sp. Megh. Leopard and the sp. Galaxy/True blue. The Galaxy is from a slightly different location as is supposed to have less spot. I am sceptical, I have seen both and they look the same to me.

My first two seemed to max at about 7", I found them to be quite aggressive and would not put more than one together in anything less than a 75g. They do like it cool. Usually 15-20c I has been suggested that they are not kept above 20. You can get away with summer temps for short periods. I have mine unheated at the moment at 22c-23c and I intend to let them go down to 15c over the winter. The first two I had went upto 30c when I had them in the house. I am not for a second suggesting that it won't cause long term issues but it doesn't seem to affect them for relatively short periods of time. I tried all sorts of thing to cool the water. I went through a daily practice of putting a frozen bottle of water in to try and bring it down. There really is no substitute for a chiller.

yes its wildwoods!!!! i love them :D haha! they never fail to deliver excellent fish!!! im definitely getting it next week. i cant wait. i'm going to grab a chiller too on saturday. going to the lfs to pick one out will ask for advice then :D will post up pics next week when he gets home!!!

Hi
Don't know what temp you are trying to keep tank at but using fans probably will fluctuate up and down a bit depending on the heat in the room at different times of the year.
Another solution would be a fish tank chiller don't know much about them but I know they use them in reef tanks, cold water marines and I have seen them used for fishing bait when they want to tank it for a while.
They do cost a bit but you will get better stable results in temp just Google (fish tank chiller)and see what you think or if it is worth using over cost to run, remember they probably use a bit of electrickery!:)

Hope this helps Jerry

Dont bother with fans at all, all fans will do is blow around the warm air in the room. If you really want to go down that road use an air conditioning unit or better still, ice, making sure it is already treated with the right amount of chlorine remover before placing it in the tank.

Good Luck, Danny
