Lol. Nice. I'll have to let you know how my DIY Nitrate remover works. If it works I'll recommend it to you.
and dont worry about being rough, im like that with some fish. like oscars, kinda. i honestly thought i hate them, but after having mine for as long as i have i love them (or at least i love mine). ive raised it from a 0.5" fry and its currently about 7.5". i jump on anyone keeping them in 55s and 75s. after moving mine into my 200 and seeing how well he does, id NEVER move him into anything smaller. IMO 200 is the minimum for oscars after keeping mine in this size tank lol
I'd go 75-100 never 55. I think 200 is a little over kill though... but I"m like that with Betta's I keep mine in 20 gallons. There for I think 20 gallons for Betta's. He he.
300 for a pacu? maybe for one pacu lol. i love/hate mine but i know ill have to say goodbye eventually. and yeah directions would be nice, you can still have the fish though 
Yeah for one. Cuz you said one. You'd need 500-1000+ for more than one. ANd it would be irresponsible for me to accept a fish that I know for a fact I would not be willing to get the proper housing for. Cuz... I can't do a 300 gallon tank... would LOVe one to death for some cichlids or Marine but I can't afford it.
I understand about your Oscar. I want one so bad... but my biggest tank is 55 gallons (for now).
