needle fish

Here is a needlefish I just purchased, now living in my outdoor pond. It is interesting to see how his natural coloration makes him look just like a floating stick.

This one is about 6 inches long.

that seems to be a boulengerella maculata ( marble gar ) but not actually gar, but definitely different from the "asian needle gar" of petsmart

I just got a "needle fish" from Petsmart yesterday. They had 1 left and had a clearnance/get rid of price of 3.49 ...the regular price was 14.99.

So I grabbed up the last guy! I have read about them before buying them and it seems they are either very easy or very hard to care for

It's about 6inches and I threw it in a 30G tank for the time being. Really cool fish. Im guessing it's not in the Gar family and if not what family does it belong too?

In response to the earlier post from like a year ago....
I'm curious as to how hes doing in an outdoor pond? I too live in Florida. I raised my Oscar in a pond before tanking them,believe it or not.

Have an outdoor pond with some 12-14inch+ plecos.
