neon vs cardinal

A well-known LFS around here was charging 6.99/cardinal and 1.99/neon with no quantity discounts the last time I stopped by. But they charge 5.99 or so per celestial pearl danio. Crazy huh?
Yeesh! I was hoping that the price will lower any sooner now that people found out in their experiences that this fish breeds very easily. Empty threat on being endangered. The price in other countries might still reflect to where I live.sirasoni;974082; said:

I like cards better than neons but only because cardinals are larger. Neither are particularly fragile imo EXCEPT on day one in their new tank. Not the greatest at acclimating. Once settled in they seem to live forever providing the water quality is reasonable. They do hate a sudden drop in the temperature though. Ick & quick death!

and cardinals are $3.49 with volume discounts available!!!! A store that's an hour away though does have neons for $1.99ea and cardinals for $2.49ea. For some reason, lack of competition I think, prices here are insane.
I also cannot find java moss here. I have to order it online. One store has it but wont sell it because they're growing it out. ARGGG.

I much prefer cardinals. their adult size is a little bigger than a neon (much fatter anyway) and they are more colourful.
just checked prices here the other day. $2 for a neon, and i do suspect they got cardinals in but they put them in the "random tetras" tank and they are also $2, but i got the petland card so i can get them for $1.50 or 10 for $10.
really if you have a petland near you get the card, there are some insane discounts, $9 flowerhorns, 10 for $10 on every tetra and barb, 10-20% off any fish.
