Netting Big Fish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
remember most laundry detergents have scents and i would think that means chemical residue. be careful not to just grab a pillow case and put it in your tank.

I've heard of some people using the big rubber maid containers and coaxing the fish in then putting the lid on and moving them... I've never done it personally.

And I've heard alittle bit of clove oil will help the process too.

lower water level and use your hands hold on tight they squirm or you might drop it dont be scared just show it who is boss

Gotta be careful with clove oil though, since too much of it, or letting the fish stay in it too long can do some serious damage or even kill a fish...

I have a huge net. That would be the best way, try to get a really big net.

I use big clear plastic bags Thick too, Lower the water level and con the fish into swimming into it with my hand.... then dump most of the water and hoist it outa the tank.... Works with 2 foot asian arowanas just fine if you close the top of the bag right after..... Ive moved a 3 foot RTC with the bag too..... but that got hairy real quick when he tore holes in it..... In that case use the bag into a rubbermaid and remove it then a new bag into the new tank

2 easy ways are
Use a clear plastic high grade fish bag for the big boys, works like a charm. Lowering the water helps big time and use a divider to coax the fish into the bag.
Method number 2 is use a fishing net you can get from a fishing store. My friend Simon, SimonL on MFK caught my HUGE ck this way and only issues were a small scratch here and there..
