I knew my Albino tiger Oscar was abit aggressive.. But when I woke up and found my Silver Arrowana almost completely scaled on both sides... my TSN w/ a few solid scuff marks... my other tiger Oscar half dead from being rammed into the wall for likely quite some time ( he was caught mid-act)... The fish Bought himself a one way ticket to one of our local LFS' Tanks.

Really made me sad to let this guy go as I've had him since he was about 3". Unfortunately I just don't have the space atm to give him his own tank. :(

The havoc he left in his wake was crazy. Not all Oscars are bluffers...

I pity-da-foo who put a bunch of wussy fish in an Oscar's tank. Especially another O!

Honestly, there's a good chance everything would have been fine with all your stock except for the one other Oscar. Another example of why Oscar tanks ought to have 1 or six Oscars but nothing in-between unless they are a proven pair in a really big tank. Any small number of Oscars is just asking for aggression. And once an O is ticked off, anything becomes a target. Sorry you learned the ugly way.

please tell me you didnt have all those in that 40 gallon in your sig...

to clear up a few things.. because It always amuses me when people look at a JDM tank and think it's cool but having juvi fish in anything but their adult tanks outrages people.

I knew it was a chance keeping 2 Oscars together. I was hoping to get a pair from these specific Oscars. I knew my chances as well. So I'm not surprized one bit that my Albino when nutz.

all of the fish where in the tank less then 10 hours when I decided it wasn't going to work for 2 weeks until I could finish cycling the 75 for the Oscars and finish up my baby pool for the TSN and Arrow.

Up until this point the Oscars showed some aggression towards eachother but nothing major enough to deem seperating them.

and yes they where all in the 37 gal as it was the largest tank I have cycled atm. I'm between moving. I have tanks everywhere. and am not any happier then the fish about it.

I was mearly trying to point out.. as another said " Don't trust Cichlids" and I'de have bet good money even if all these fish where in a 300+ gallon tank I would have got the same result.

I am perfectly willing and able to care for my fish and understand what their needs are now and will be as adults. Unfortunately life gets in the way of the hobby of keeping fish sometimes. and the reality that we can't have everything perfect all the time.

I'm just glad I didn't lose any fish. BTW my Arrow is doing well, and I expect a full recovery.

Maybe I shouldn't have posted this in lessons learned.. as I knew fully well the potential nuke that could have gone off. I just want to make sure others Understand that Oscars are Cichlids as much as they pretend to be anything but at times.

But I agree Knifegill.. Once an O is ticked off.. nothing is safe.

briefed.
